(1 Kings 3:3-5)

“That night the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream and said, ’what do you want? Ask and I will give it to you’”.

After reading verse 3, understanding’s gotten as to what duty or service earns one the privilege the Lord had granted Solomon to ask whatever he wanted. Such an act is the public showcase of the love you profess for the Lord God. Solomon showed his love to the Lord by sacrificing to Him 1000 burnt offerings. This privilege given Solomon is given you only when you show your love for the Lord.

But, when asking the Lord for anything, ask for things that will benefit the children of the Lord at large, not things that will gratify your insatiable selfish needs/cravings. Solomon asked, but he only asked for an understanding heart so that he can govern the people the Lord has entrusted into his care as the King of Israel. It pleases God so much whenever His servants asked like Solomon, and He gives bountifully whatever that was asked for and many other things that were not even asked for. In Solomon’s case He added riches and fame. Your case, it might be that lady/gentleman you have been praying and fasting diligently to marry; that job position you have been dying to occupy; the fulfilment of that dying-out dream of yours; etc.

It is as well conspicuous the humility with which Solomon made his request to God. He simply asked in humility (1 Kings 3:7-9). Solomon is who he is in the Bible, and in the fabric of History and Literature today because he showed his love for the Lord in public and without shame. And the Lord God of Abraham also, with so much joy, blessed him beyond his request.

People will be in awe for you when you act as Solomon. This is what the queen of Sheba said about Solomon in 1 Kings 10:6-9, “everything I heard in my country about your achievements and wisdom is true! I didn’t believe what was said until I arrived here and saw it with my own eyes. In fact, I had not heard the half of it! Your wisdom and prosperity are far beyond what I was told. How happy your people must be! What a privilege for your officials to stand here day after day, listening to your wisdom! Praise the Lord your God, who delights in you and has placed you on the throne of Israel.”

Show the Lord your love, and He will, with joy, grant you whatever you asked and many more. I pray for good tidings this week. AMEN!!, , 1 Kings 10:6-9, Solomon showed his love to the Lord by sacrificing to Him 1000 burnt offerings,
