28 Peter said, “We’ve left our homes to follow you.”
29 “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the Kingdom of God, 30 will be repaid many times over in this life, and will have eternal life in the world to come.”
Are you scared to give up something? Do not be! The reward and the assurance of the reward is so big that you ought not to be scared. The refreshing thing is that what the Lord Jesus said in verse 29 carried no condition. There was no conditional clause. It was an assurance that once anyone of us has given up house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children for the sake of God, that person will be repaid many times over in this life, and will have eternal life in the life to come.
My brother and my sister, whatever struggle you are going through in giving up one thing or another for the sake of the Gospel, just endure and keep your gaze fixed on the rewards, in this life and the one to come, and give up that thing completely.
It is my prayer this week that the almighty God himself gives us that strength to give up those things completely for the sake of the Kingdom. Have a fruitful week.
