I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
This excerpt is taken from Jesus’ last speech to his disciples, before He was taken up to heaven, as an assurance of what will fall on their chosen path. Christianity, as we all are aware, is the faith that makes us disciples of Jesus Christ. Thus, the words uttered by Him above are truly not only words to His followers who saw Him in flesh, but also to we, disciples of His disciples’ disciples, who have seen Him in and continue to see Him in spirit.
The world will make us suffer and that is a fact we cannot deny. It is absolutely amazing that Jesus did not end His speech on the sufferings, trials and sorrows that will fall the way of his followers, but He went on and told us what to do. “…But take heart, because I have overcome the world” I must admit that this statement is the most encouraging I have read thus far. On this I want to encourage someone this week, all you need on your chosen path of faith is bravery and endurance like our saviour did on the cross, and your name shall be next to victory. Amen! Have a fruitful day.
