Just writing to encourage all those who were once ‘on fire’ for God but it seems as if now there’s a lot to do to the extent that a very big gap has come in their relationship with God. This is also a word of encouragement to those who are currently ‘on fire’ for God but facing with watery eyes ferocious waves of challenges in their walk with God.
Friends, always remember what Psalm 42:5, 11 says.
The Christian journey is long; sometimes we fall, sometimes we go off track but that’s fine because we have the Holy Spirit to prompt us whenever we go astray, and we are also ready to come back. Some people in such times would speak with the tongue of the psalmist that “I used to go with the multitude: I went with them to the house of God. With the voice of joy and praise. With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast” – Psalm 42:2. Yes, you used to go for the prayer meetings, evangelisms, church services, outreaches, etc. no one challenges that.
The good news is that with a mind-set of pursuing God; though we’ll fall down, we’ll also get up again. So in those times tell your soul this- Psalm 42:11
“Why are you cast down, o my soul?
And why are you disquieted within me?
Hope in God;
For I shall yet praise Him.
The help of my countenance and my God”.
Yes, though the enemy will reproach you all day long about your current situation, and it feels like he is breaking your bones: let your soul be calm. For he knows that your desire for God is not yet satisfied and that your soul stretches and reaches out to God’s presence till you are filled. What is more important is that, God is not disappointed that we swayed but rather, more glad that we have come back. Just as with the prodigal son.
