(Reference: Galatians 5:16-26)

If we live in the Spirit, then let us walk in the Spirit also – (Galatians 5:25). Our Lord Jesus Christ before He was taken up to Heaven said He’ll plead the Father to send us His Spirit – the Holy Spirit. Bible also reveals that without the Spirit, it is impossible to please God.

This receiving of the Holy Spirit happens when one accepts Christ as His/ Her Lord and personal Saviour. Therefore, those who have the Holy Spirit in them live by the Spirit and depend totally on the Spirit. To walk in the Spirit means to follow the steps of the Holy Spirit while He leads. Whatever is done without the leadings and /or birth outside the inspiration of the Holy Spirit does not please God. Walking in the Spirit is not about following the law or the dos and don’ts of man. Those who live and walk by the Spirit are not under law (Gal 5:18). The laws of God are rather engraved in their hearts and minds, they subject to the leadings and directions of the Spirit. By so doing, the fruits of the Spirit (Gal 5:22) are produced in the man who walks by the Spirit. Yes! The flesh is constantly warring with the Spirit but they that walk in the Spirit overcome the flesh and do not satisfy the desires of the flesh.

Be ye careful that you do not step ahead of God in whichever area of your life; is it your purpose, dreams, joy, faith, family, marriage, friends, etc. because it will not be pleasing before the Lord! And oh, what a waste it’ll be. I pray that we don’t step ahead of the Spirit.

Now that we know that the Holy Spirit is the one to give approval to the things we do for God, let us acknowledge Him in our daily activities. Every day, every moment we need the Holy Spirit. Let us no more yield to our flesh, let us not permit any worldly thing gain mastery over us (1 Corinthians 6:12).

Permission to end with this song I learnt when I was ten years old:

Holy Holy Holy Holy Ghost

Come and take control

I need you everyday

I need you every hour

Holy Holy Holy Holy Ghost

Come and take control

Let us make this our prayer now and forever more. Amen!
