I present to you the exact words of the virtuous woman’s husband as he rendered his praise “many daughters have done well, but you excel them all”. This is found in Proverbs 31:29. If you are fortunate enough to go through life with a virtuous woman as your partner, please do not deny the lady her praise.
My dear lady, I agree with you that virtuous living is tough, but see, it is possible! Whatever that you are doing, do it as unto God and not unto man.
Permit me to borrow the words of J. H. Hitchens concerning people’s mindset of women. “Women are necessary evil. If there is any mischief you may rest assure that a woman has to do with it. It cannot be denied that the devil employed woman to accomplish the ruin of race; that by her he disturbed Abraham’s home and heart, cast innocent Joseph into prison, robbed Sampson of his strength, brought life-long trouble upon David, seduced Solomon into idolatry, caused John the Baptist to be beheaded and drove Paul and Barnabas from Antioch”. To this I say loudly to all you men and women out there that there still exist a galaxy of pure-minded, consecrated women who lived, are living and will live in the future. Get the veil off your face and search for these treasures.
Virtuous one, may you always be the Virtuous #1 on your husband’s ranking list.
If you ask me what phrase I’d love others to constantly say to me it is “THANK YOU”. I will not hold it against anyone who thinks otherwise but for me it means a lot. Do nothing else but say thank you and it’s enough for me. However, it is unfortunate that “thank you” isn’t a greeting. It comes as a result of a good deed done.
Someone may be wondering what at all is the reward for becoming a virtuous woman? I cannot say all but I know that the best that a man can do for you is to say “thank you”. According to Proverbs 31:28-29 the children of the virtuous woman rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her saying many daughters have done well, but you excel them all. Beautiful!
It looks too small a reward for all the sacrifices, huh? Were you expecting something else? 😊 Well let me remind you that you have not done more than fulfil a duty that God entrusted into your hands as a wife and a mother. Must a servant be praised for doing what is expected of her?
I know not of a better reward than being eternally adorned in praise by the lips of men. A reward, though not seen (for the things that are seen are temporal but those that are not seen are eternal) yet it will forever be cherished in the hearts of many lives.
A crown of praise awaits you! You will be celebrated for your sacrifices. Keep on keeping on!
The Bible verse in Proverbs 31:27 is represented with the Hebrew word “Tsade”. Tsade means a small swath: a path. This introduces us to the 18th characteristic of the virtuous woman as a REAL GODLY ROLE MODEL.
Bible entreats all believers to live lives worthy of emulation. This, has the virtuous woman made manifest in her life and now it has become her very nature. Her current state in life is so charming that it draws others to journey on the very path she has trod. Am talking of A REAL GODLY ROLE MODEL which will eventually lead to a glorious state of “virtuousness” . People have diverse reasons as to who they make their models and why. But let us consider Ruth and Naomi in the Bible, I believe Ruth did not decide to follow Naomi just out of determination but also due to something peculiar she saw in her (Naomi). She left everything to follow her path even unto death “… where you die I will die, and the I will be buried… “(Ruth 1:16-17).
What swath is your life creating and to what end? Let it be your desire and your prayer to forever live a life that will be an example unto others. You might be the only living epistle that someone will read.
