Luke 9:23
Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.
Salvation is what Christ has done for us. What has He done for us? He came to grace this earth to die to give us everlasting life through faith. Discipleship, however, is what we are doing for Christ. After saving us from our sins, He requested us, before He was taken up to Heaven to spread the Good News and also to live like He has done.
As the Bible rightly says, discipleship is to take up your cross daily and gladly follow Him. Oral Roberts formed this acronym out of the word FOLLOW that I find worth sharing.
F – Follow Christ daily
O – Obey Jesus’ words
L – Love Him
L – Lean on Him
O – Open up and start giving
W – Walk daily with Him
Know that Jesus called you to follow him with a burden of yours that is weighing you down – your cross. This is just to tell us that even as we look up to take His instructions and share in His goodness, our laden is also going to battle us severely.
